Salting & Ice Management

Snow Plowing Services

Salting & Ice Management

Reliable salting and anti-icing services designed to help keep your property safer, clearer, and protected from dangerous ice buildup after plowing and throughout winter conditions.

Post-Plow Salting Pre-Storm Anti-Icing Calcium Chloride Available Responsible Application Commercial Properties

Dependable Winter Surface Protection

Plowing Removes Snow. Salting Prevents Ice.

Snow that gets compacted by foot traffic or vehicles can freeze into a sheet of ice within hours of plowing. Salting after a plow visit breaks that cycle before it starts — keeping your parking lot, drive lanes, and walkways safe throughout the business day.

Post Excavating & Landscaping LLC also offers pre-storm anti-icing treatment — applied before a storm arrives to prevent ice from bonding to the pavement surface. Pre-treating is especially effective for freezing rain events and reduces the total amount of salt needed, which is better for your landscaping and the environment.

We select the right product for the conditions — rock salt for standard winter weather, calcium chloride for extreme cold, and gentler blends for areas near landscaping or decorative concrete.

Our Ice Management Services

Three Levels of Ice Control

Reliable winter surface treatments tailored to changing weather conditions, helping keep commercial properties safer, clearer, and easier to navigate.

Post-Plow Salt Application

After we plow, we apply road salt or ice melt to parking lots, drive lanes, and walkways to prevent snow from refreezing into ice. This is the most common salting service and is available as an add-on to any commercial plow visit.

  • Road salt application after plowing

  • Parking lot and drive lane coverage

  • Walkway and step treatment

  • Prevents refreezing throughout the day

Pre-Storm Anti-Icing Treatment

Applied before a storm arrives, anti-icing products prevent ice from bonding to the pavement surface. Pre-treating is especially effective for freezing rain events and reduces the amount of salt needed overall — which is better for your landscaping and the environment.

  • Applied before storm arrives

  • Prevents ice bonding to surface

  • Especially effective for freezing rain

  • Reduces total salt usage

Calcium Chloride for Extreme Cold

Standard road salt loses effectiveness below 15°F. For extreme cold snaps, we use calcium chloride, which works down to -25°F. We select the right product for the conditions so your surfaces stay safe regardless of the temperature.

  • Effective down to -25°F

  • Used when standard salt is insufficient

  • Faster melting action than rock salt

  • Available for all commercial lot and access road applications

Why Ice Management Matters

Beyond Basic Snow Removal

Liability Protection

Ice on a walkway or parking lot is a slip-and-fall waiting to happen. Proper ice management protects your customers, employees, and your business from liability.

Ice Forms Fast

Snow that gets compacted by foot traffic or vehicles can freeze into ice within hours. Salting after plowing prevents this cycle before it starts.

Pre-Treating Saves Money

Anti-icing treatment before a storm reduces the amount of salt needed afterward and makes post-storm cleanup faster and easier.

Responsible Application

We apply at appropriate rates — enough to be effective, not so much that it damages your landscaping, concrete, or the surrounding environment.

Common Questions

Salting & Ice Management FAQ

Do you provide salting for residential properties?

No. Our salting and ice management services are exclusively for commercial properties, industrial facilities, agricultural operations, and institutional properties. We do not service residential driveways or home walkways.

Is salting included in your standard commercial snow service?

Post-plow salt application on steps and high-traffic walkways is included in our standard commercial service. Full parking lot and drive lane salting is available as an add-on. We discuss the right package for your property during sign-up.

What is pre-storm anti-icing treatment?

Anti-icing products are applied to your pavement surfaces before a storm arrives. They prevent ice from bonding to the surface, which makes post-storm cleanup faster and reduces the total amount of salt needed — saving you money and reducing environmental impact. It's especially effective for freezing rain events.

Will salt damage our concrete or surrounding landscaping?

Standard rock salt can cause surface damage to concrete over time and harm vegetation if over-applied. We use appropriate products for each situation and apply at responsible rates. For areas near landscaping or decorative concrete, we use magnesium chloride or ice melt blends that are gentler on surfaces.

What product do you use in very cold temperatures?

Standard rock salt loses effectiveness below 15°F. For extreme cold snaps, we use calcium chloride, which works down to -25°F. We select the right product for the conditions so your commercial property stays safe regardless of the temperature.

Can you salt our facility on a specific schedule?

Yes. For commercial clients, we build salting schedules around your operational needs — for example, treating the lot before your first shift, again at midday, and after the afternoon rush during a heavy event. We work with your team to set the right plan.
