Outdoor Lighting
Landscaping Services
Your landscape doesn't have to go dark at sunset. Professional outdoor lighting extends living space, enhances safety, and transforms your property into something striking after dark.
Light Up Your Property
A beautiful landscape that disappears at sunset is only half the picture. Professional outdoor lighting reveals your property's best features after dark — the texture of a stone wall, the canopy of a mature oak, the curve of a paver walkway — and creates a warm, welcoming atmosphere that makes your home stand out on the street.
Post Excavating & Landscaping LLC designs and installs low-voltage LED landscape lighting systems for residential properties across western Ohio and eastern Indiana. We design each system to complement your specific landscape, highlight the right features, and provide the safety and security benefits that come with a well-lit property.

Lighting Options
A complete lighting design typically combines several fixture types to create layers of light — each serving a specific purpose in the overall composition.
Uplighting
Ground-mounted fixtures aimed upward to illuminate trees, architectural features, and focal points. Creates dramatic shadows and highlights that give your landscape depth and dimension after dark.
Path & Step Lighting
Low-profile fixtures along walkways, steps, and driveways that guide movement safely while adding a warm, welcoming glow. Essential for safety and one of the most impactful visual elements in a lighting system.
Architectural Lighting
Fixtures that highlight the lines, textures, and features of your home — gables, columns, stone facades, and entryways. Architectural lighting dramatically improves curb appeal after dark.
Accent & Spotlight Lighting
Directional fixtures that draw attention to specific plants, garden art, water features, or hardscape elements. Used selectively to create focal points and visual interest throughout the landscape.
Security & Area Lighting
Broader illumination for driveways, parking areas, and dark corners that improves safety and deters unwanted activity. Integrated into the overall lighting design so it's functional without being harsh.
Low-Voltage LED Systems
All our installations use low-voltage LED technology — energy-efficient, long-lasting, and safe. LED fixtures use up to 75% less energy than traditional halogen systems and last tens of thousands of hours.

Why Post Excavating & Landscaping LLC
The biggest mistake in landscape lighting is treating it as an afterthought — adding fixtures to an existing landscape without a plan. The result is usually too bright in some areas, too dark in others, and fixtures that fight with the plants rather than highlighting them.
Because we design and install landscapes, we understand how plants grow and change over time. We place fixtures with that in mind — so your lighting system looks as good in five years as it does the day it's installed.

The Value
Landscape lighting is one of the highest-ROI outdoor improvements you can make — delivering beauty, safety, and security in a single investment.
Extended Outdoor Living
A well-lit outdoor space is usable after sunset — for entertaining, relaxing, or simply enjoying your yard. Lighting extends the hours you can enjoy the investment you've made in your landscape.
Curb Appeal After Dark
Most of your neighbors see your home in the evening when they drive by. Landscape lighting makes your property stand out — and look significantly more polished and intentional than an unlit yard.
Safety & Security
Lit pathways, steps, and driveways prevent trips and falls. A well-lit property is also a less attractive target for theft or vandalism — lighting is one of the most cost-effective security investments you can make.
Property Value
Landscape lighting is consistently cited by real estate professionals as one of the highest-ROI outdoor improvements. It signals quality and care to potential buyers and makes your property memorable.
Our Process
Our installation process ensures your system is thoughtfully designed, cleanly installed, and fully tested before we leave your property.
01
Lighting Consultation
We walk your property at dusk or discuss your goals during a daytime visit, identifying key features to highlight, safety needs, and how you want to use your outdoor spaces after dark.
02
Design & Layout
We create a fixture placement plan showing the type and location of each light, the transformer location, and wire routing — designed for both visual impact and practical function.
03
Fixture Selection
We select commercial-grade, low-voltage LED fixtures appropriate for each application — the right beam angle, color temperature, and durable weather-resistant housing for each location.
04
Installation
We install all fixtures, run low-voltage wire, connect to the transformer, and program the timer or smart controller. All wiring is buried or concealed for a clean, professional result.
05
Nighttime Walkthrough
We walk the property with you after dark to review the system, make any necessary aiming adjustments, and ensure you're completely satisfied with the final result before we leave.
06
System Orientation
We show you how to operate your controller, adjust schedules, and troubleshoot common issues so you're confident managing your lighting system year-round independently.
Common Questions
Landscape lighting costs vary based on the number of fixtures, fixture quality, property size, and system complexity. A typical residential system with 10–20 fixtures ranges from $1,500 to $5,000 installed. We provide detailed quotes after a site visit so you know exactly what you're getting.
Yes — LED fixtures use 75% less energy than traditional halogen lights and last 25,000–50,000 hours compared to 2,000 hours for halogen. The energy savings alone typically pay for the cost difference within 1–2 seasons, and you won't be replacing bulbs every year.
Absolutely! Retrofitting lighting into an established landscape is one of the most common projects we do. We design the system to work with your existing plants and hardscape, burying wire neatly and placing fixtures to highlight what's already there.
For most residential landscapes, we recommend warm white (2700K–3000K) LED fixtures. This color temperature is flattering to plants, stone, and wood, and creates a welcoming, residential feel. Cooler temperatures (4000K+) can look harsh and commercial in a home landscape setting.
All our systems include at minimum a programmable timer so your lights turn on and off automatically. Smart controllers that adjust to sunset/sunrise times and allow smartphone control are available and increasingly popular — they ensure your lights are always on when it's dark and off when it's light, without manual adjustment.
Yes — low-voltage landscape lighting and irrigation systems operate independently and don't interfere with each other. When we're installing both systems for a new landscape, we coordinate the installation to minimize disruption and ensure both systems are cleanly integrated.
